The Stark Area Regional Transit Authority participated Friday in a “Stuff the Bus” event to support the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

Two SARTA buses made more than 15 stops across the county to collect food and fund for the Foodbank’s annual Harvest for Hunger campaign. Food and financial contributions collected will help provide enough food for more than 21,000 meals for the region, the Foodbank said.

The donations were loaded onto the buses and taken to the Foodbank’s Stark County campus in Canton. The stops included Fresh Mark, Lake Center Christian School, CSL Plasma, Hilscher-Clarke Electric Co., Employers Health and the Kent State University at Stark campus.

“It’s important to share in your community’s needs and be there to give people a hand up,” Jennie Marcum, center manager at CSL Plasma, said in a prepared statement. “Acknowledging that hunger is a real issue within our community is the first step to solving the problem.”
