June 25, 2024 – Due to budget limitations, the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) will discontinue Wayne County Transit (WCT) service on August 31, 2024. Community Action of Wayne/Medina (CAW/M) contracts with SARTA to operate this curb-to-curb service within Wayne County from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

There will be two (2) public meetings on Thursday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bruch Hall, First Presbyterian Church of Wooster, 621 College Avenue, Wooster 44691, and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Orrville Public Library, 230 North Main St., Orrville, Ohio 44667. Public comment, concern and attendance at the meeting is encouraged.

Effective immediately SARTA and CAW/M will stop signing up any new WCT customers. SARTA will also discontinue contracted services with the Wayne County Board of Developmental Disabilities effective August 31, 2024.

For citizens in Wayne County, Wooster City Transit will continue to provide fixed-route transit service for registered riders on the shuttle loop within the City of Wooster. Taxi trip passes will remain available for eligible residents within Wooster City limits as part of CAW/M’s Wooster Transportation Assistance Program.
